Greenleaf Secures Additional $1 Million in State Funding for Redevelopment in Ambler

Today, State Senator Stewart J. Greenleaf (R-Montgomery / Bucks) announced the approval of his request for an additional $1,000,000 in Redevelopment Assistance Capitol Program (RACP) funding for the redevelopment of the former Keasbey and Mattison site in Ambler Borough.

For much of the 20h Century, asbestos had been manufactured at the Keasbey and Mattison facility, and in recent years the site has deteriorated into an unattractive nuisance.

The two proposed development projects, The Crossings at Ambler and Ambler Boiler House will remediate both the severely asbestos contaminated Keasbey and Mattison manufacturing facility and power station in Ambler Borough.

The additional $1 million in RACP funding secured by Greenleaf will be directed specifically towards preparing the future site of The Crossings at Ambler, a plan for the development of a 288-unit condominium facility.

The RACP funding for this project will be used for the environmental remediation and cleanup, demolition, and infrastructure installation necessary for the re-birth and re-use of the property.

Recognized by the Delaware Valley Smart Growth Alliance (DVSGA) and consistent with many smart growth principles, the project will ultimately result in a mixed-use, transit oriented development (TOD) community that enhances the Borough's revitalized downtown business district.

The additional funding brings the total RACP funding for The Crossings at Ambler project to $7,000,000.  RACP is a commonwealth grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, and historical projects.

"This funding is vital to Ambler Borough in two ways," said Senator Greenleaf.  "First, it will facilitate the clean up of this site which has been a health concern for this community for decades.  Secondly, the funding will pave the way for a project that will enhance Ambler's vibrant business community, boost tax revenues for the borough, and ensure Ambler's economic stability for years to come."
