Upper Moreland Township Receives Recycling Performance Grant

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental protection has awarded a Recycling Performance Grant to Upper Moreland Township under the Recycling Performance Grant Program of Act 101 of 1998.

The grant of $34,562 is based on the 2,176 tons recycled for calendar year 2007 and the municipality’s population.

The Recycling Performance Grant Program provides incentives to help Pennsylvania communities increase the amount of materials recovered through recycling and promote economic growth in the Commonwealth through job creation and market expansion.  This grant is in addition to the funds that the Department of Environmental Protection allocates to municipalities to establish and maintain recycling programs.

"I am very pleased with the great success of our local recycling programs," said Senator Greenleaf.  "Upper Moreland Township has done an outstanding job to encourage community recycling."

"Recycling is a growing industry in our state with many kinds of business opportunities, from collection and processing, to manufacturing.  Recycling will continue to create jobs and improve Pennsylvania’s economy."
