Senator Greenleaf Supports Solar Grant for Artman Lutheran
Home in Ambler
Today, Senator Greenleaf visited Artman Lutheran Home in Ambler
to view recently installed solar panels for which he helped secure $54,000 in
funding.
Artman Lutheran Home, a non-profit assisted living and nursing
facility for older adults, will be able to significantly reduce its carbon
footprint by using the sun's energy to heat a significant portion of the
facility's domestic hot water.
The solar panels were funded through the Commonwealth Finance
Authority's Solar Energy Program. The Solar Energy Program provides financial
assistance in the form of grants and loans to promote the use of alternative
energy in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The program is administered jointly by the Department of
Community and Economic Development (DCED) and the Department of Environmental
Protection (DEP) under the direction of the Commonwealth Financing Authority
(CFA).
A business, an economic development organization, non-profit, or
political subdivision, including municipalities, counties and school districts
are eligible to apply for the program.
There is a matching investment requirement of at least $1 for
every $1 of program funds awarded.
Senator Greenleaf said, "I am pleased to see another
organization in my district take advantage of solar power. We are seeing an
increasing number of businesses, governments, and private residents take
advantage of renewable energy sources that will have a positive impact on our
environment as well as long term cost savings."
